Philippians 4:8–9 (ESV)
8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
It is from this passage written long ago by the Apostle Paul that I have deemed it necessary to put my thoughts into words. I am following the example of Jonathan Edwards, whom I am named after, who wrote down his thoughts on many subjects in his “Miscellaneous Observations on Important Theological Subjects.” Likewise, I will be writing miscellaneous observations that are important to theological subjects as they enter into my mind. My purpose in writing these things down is not to present these subjects as fully decided in my own head, for I acknowledge that views change over time if they must be adjusted to adhere to Scripture. That is my overall purpose in writing, that my mind and theology would be conformed to Christ and His fully Confirmed Word.
