One of the things that I value in a good sermon is the ability for the preacher to spend the whole message on one verse of the text or even on one phrase. Martyn Lloyd-Jones was a master at this, especially in his Romans series.

If there was an equivalent to this type of preaching in hymns or worship music of any kind, it would be the hymn for today: Grace and Peace.

Grace and Peace is another fantastic worship song from Sovereign Grace Music. Really, the song focuses just on the opening greeting from the apostle Paul in Romans 1:7:

“Grace to you and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”

This song does a marvelous job defining what true grace and peace in Christ mean. Go ahead and listen to the video below or read the lyrics and be encouraged. Oh, what an amazing mystery that His grace has come to us!

  1. Can I recommend to you a Nigerian preacher Gbile Akanni. You may find his messages interesting in that he preaches a whole message from a verse, a word from a verse or a phrase from a verse, sometimes a couple of text. Check him on YouTube. God bless you. 🌹🌹
