I know there should be something against using the same person to quote from two days in a row, but I guess I really don’t care! I found this quote to be considerably tied to the posts I have made today. So, look at Edwards’ words and be amazed by the truth he is saying. Redemption satisfies and it merits.

“By Christ’s purchasing redemption, two things are intended: his satisfaction and his merit; the one pays our debt, and so satisfies; the other procures our title, and so merits. The satisfaction of Christ is to free us from misery; the merit of Christ is to purchase happiness for us.” – Jonathan Edwards

We are given new robes! Not by our work to earn them, but by Christ’s work on the cross.

1 John 4:10 (ESV)

10 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
