I have been away from my computer this weekend, hence no recent posts. There was a Biblical Counseling Conference in the Twin Cities that I attended from Friday afternoon to late Saturday evening. Then, I preached at my local church yesterday, so it has been a busy weekend. The conference was a great time of learning for me. It was mostly focused on how to counsel people caught in depression or sexual sins. I certainly feel better equipped after those sessions! Yet, I still have much to learn.
Not only did I preach yesterday, but I also taught the teen Sunday School class. The class is focusing on Church History for the next few months. This Sunday we discussed the Church in the Book of Acts and throughout the first two centuries. We looked at the lives of those who were martyred for their faith, especially the apostles. Then, we looked at the early Church Fathers, also known as the Apostolic Fathers, and their writings. I briefly discussed the lives of Clement of Rome, Ignatius of Antioch, and Polycarp. Then, I touched on how they were killed for the sake of Christ.
After all of that, I stood before the congregation and preached from 2 Peter 2 weaving in Jonathan Edwards’ sermon: Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God. Overall, I think the day went well. The message flowed from my heart and I felt bold to preach on a hard subject. I pray that the Holy Spirit will work in the hearts of those who heard God’s Word preached yesterday.
So, this week I am getting back on the horse to continue blogging and various other ministry responsibilities. March has been a busy month for me with preaching, teaching, leading small groups, doing other ministry things, and with my Master’s program. So, I look forward to April where there will be a slight reprieve of duties.
Are there any topics, subjects, or anything else that you would like me to address this week? Feel free to message me/ comment on anything you want me to research and talk about!
The grace of God be with you.
